Description of Webinar

Executive function (EF) skills provide essential support for learning, development, and overall daily performance. This presentation explores the critical components of EF—such as planning, prioritization, time management, organization, cognitive flexibility, sustained attention, and self-regulation—and their impact on a student’s academic and behavioral success in the educational setting. Participants will learn how students develop EF skills over time and how each skill affects learning. Strengthening EF can enhance a student’s decision-making abilities, emotional management, academic productivity, and more. Participants will leave with practical assessment tools to target intervention and actionable strategies to improve EF skills in students served in K–12 educational settings.


Learning Objectives

At the end of this webinar, the learner will be able to:

  • Identify six critical executive functions and their areas of impact;  
  • Describe comorbid conditions and considerations for executive functioning; and
  • Select strategies for building executive function skills.

Presenter Bio


Jennifer Baker, PhD, NCSP, LSSP, BCBA, LBA

Jennifer M. Baker has a PhD in Educational Psychology. She is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP), Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA). Dr. Baker has experience working with students and training staff in both the school and clinical settings. She has served in a variety of roles including child and adolescent case worker, behavior specialist, school psychologist, and director, and currently serves as an executive director of special education in a large urban public school district in Austin, Texas. Dr. Baker is passionate about bridging the gap between research and implementable practice in the K–12 educational system, thus continuing to work in a school district while remaining connected to academia by adjunct teaching at the university level. She has presented her research findings and performed training sessions at both the national and state level, helping advance the field of school psychology and behavior analysis. Dr. Baker has won many awards and accolades, including but not limited to the Pearson Scholar Award, Top Research Presentation in Division 16 at the 2018 American Psychological Association (APA) Conference, and Outstanding School Psychologist by the Texas Association of School Psychologists (TASP). Dr. Baker brings a wealth of knowledge and practical resources to educators and school-based providers. Webinar Completion Requirements

This webinar provides the opportunity to earn a Certificate of Completion equivalent to 2 contact hours. Attendees must satisfy completion requirements.  In order to receive the Certificate of Completion for the webinar, participants must:

  • Be present for the entire course (attendance will be tracked through Zoom).  
  • Complete the Post-course Evaluation Survey within 3 business days of the event.

No partial credit will be awarded.
