On-Demand Webinar: PPA Scale Structure, Purpose, and Features

This 1-hour on-demand webinar will introduce participants to the structure, purpose, and features of the Phonological and Print Awareness Scale (PPA Scale, Williams, 2014). The PPA Scale is a research-based, standardized measure of early literacy skills; skills that have consistently demonstrated a strong, predictive relationship with future measures of reading and writing. Results can be reported in standard scores for ages 3 years, 6 months through 8 years, 11 months; by growth scores for monitoring progress; and through descriptive error analyses for planning intervention strategies.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this on-demand webinar, the learner will be able to:

  1. Explain how phonological and print awareness are key prerequisites for young children learning to read and write.
  2. Identify the strengths and needs of young children’s literacy skills using norm-referenced scoring, as well as criterion-referenced information.
  3. Monitor progress in acquiring early literacy skills using parallel forms and Rasch-based growth scores.
