Co-normed with the Expressive One-Word Picture Vocabulary Test, 4th Edition, on a large, nationally representative sample
Benefit
Assesses receptive vocabulary; especially useful with individuals who are bilingual, speech impaired, withdrawn, emotionally troubled, or physically disabled
Scores
Raw scores, age equivalents, standard scores, and percentile rank
Format
Examinee chooses illustrations that best depict the meaning of spoken stimulus words
Like the Expressive One-Word Picture Vocabulary Test, 4th Edition (EOWPVT-4), this widely used instrument now covers ages 2 through 95 years. It assesses receptive vocabulary by quickly measuring the examinee’s ability to match an object or concept with its name. When results are compared to those obtained from the EOWPVT-4, developmental differences in receptive versus expressive language skills can be accurately identified.
The test can be individually administered and scored in less than 20 minutes. This edition features full-color test plates, each showing four illustrations. When the examiner says a stimulus word, the respondent must identify the illustration that depicts the word’s meaning. Raw scores can be converted into standard scores, age equivalents, and percentile ranks.
Restandardized on a large, nationally representative sample, the ROWPVT-4 includes new items for both younger and older examinees. Because it was conormed with the EOWPVT-4, you can easily compare an individual’s receptive and expressive vocabulary by administering both instruments.
