ADOS-2 Toddler Module*
Clinical Workshop

WPS offers a 1-day workshop to teach, through instruction
and demonstration, how to use the ADOS-2 Toddler Module to assess
and diagnose autism.

*See prerequisite details below.

Prerequisites

Prior completion of ADOS-2 Clinical Workshop or ADOS-2 Training Video Program is required. To maximize the value of this training experience, it is recommended that learners have completed the ADOS-2 Clinical Workshop within the past five years.

Course Description

The ADOS-2 Toddler Module is a diagnostic tool that can be used as part of a comprehensive assessment for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children 12 to 30 months of age who are not yet speaking in phrases. This workshop uses lecture format and video demonstrations to introduce the basic principles of administration and scoring, providing an essential step toward competence in using the ADOS-2 Toddler Module for clinical and/or research purposes. Learners will complete the course with a fundamental understanding of the Toddler Module and experience in scoring with the support of a certified trainer.

Learning Objectives
  • Distinguish the key features of the ADOS-2 Toddler Module approach, including the rationale for the approach and how it enhances autism assessment in toddlers.
  • Clarify use of the ADOS-2 for operationalizing diagnostic criteria for toddlers with autism spectrum disorder.
  • Distinguish administration procedures for the ADOS-2 Toddler Module.
  • Demonstrate how to apply ADOS-2 Toddler Module codes.
  • Demonstrate how to score ADOS-2 Toddler Module algorithms.
  • Interpret the basic psychometric support for the ADOS-2 Toddler Module.
Instructional Level

Intermediate

Participants

The ADOS-2 Toddler Module builds on the training offered in the ADOS-2 Clinical Workshop, the completion of which is required prior to enrollment. This workshop is designed for both clinicians and researchers. For clinicians with a prior background in autism and formal testing, this one-day workshop is sufficient to support use of the ADOS-2 Toddler Module to inform the diagnosis of autism and autism spectrum disorders. Physicians, psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists will be better prepared to make educational placement decisions and evaluate programs after completing this workshop.
