Summary

    About This Product

    BY JOHN N. BRIERE, PHD

The second edition of this trusted test measures posttraumatic stress and other psychological sequelae of traumatic events such as sexual and physical assault, intimate partner violence, combat, torture, motor vehicle accidents, natural disasters, and childhood abuse or neglect. Adding three new clinical scales as well as stronger validity checks, this revision gives you richer diagnostic information.

The TSI-2 includes 136 items, written at a fifth-grade level, covering the following scales:

    • Anxious Arousal

    • Depression

    • Anger

    • Intrusive Experiences

    • Defensive Avoidance

    • Dissociation

    • Somatic Preoccupations

    • Sexual Disturbance

    • Suicidality

    • Insecure Attachment

    • Impaired Self-Reference

    • Tension Reduction Behavior

Improved validity scales assess the respondent’s tendency to deny symptoms commonly endorsed by others, to overendorse unusual or bizarre symptoms, to misrepresent PTSD, and to respond in an inconsistent or random manner. Eight Critical Items help you identify problems that may require immediate intervention, such as suicidal ideation, substance abuse, and self-mutilation. New change scores make it easier to monitor progress over time.
